Our story

Bookkeeping first, plain answers always.

Profitick is a bookkeeping practice, not an accounting firm — and the distinction matters. Bookkeeping is the monthly discipline: transactions categorised, accounts reconciled, books closed on a schedule you can plan around. Get that part right and everything downstream gets easier — your year-end filing, your lender’s questions, your own decisions about what the business can afford.

The practice is run single-handedly by Anam Gul from Ajax, Ontario, working remotely with small businesses across the country. There is no account-management layer and no rotating pool of staff. The person who reconciles your accounts is the person who replies to your email.

Tidy books are the floor, not the ceiling. The job is making the numbers useful.

Day to day that means QuickBooks Online and Xero, monthly reconciliations, and a plain-English summary that says what changed and what to watch — not a PDF you file away unread. Year-end tax returns are prepared by a licensed CPA that Profitick arranges and coordinates on your behalf. Profitick is not a CPA firm and does not present itself as one.

What we believe

Four rules we don’t bend.

Plain English, always

If a report needs an accounting degree to read, we’ve failed. Every number comes with a sentence.

On time, every time

Books closed on schedule, filings never late. Deadlines are promises, not targets.

Advice, not just records

Recording the past is table stakes. We flag what’s coming — cash dips, tax bills, odd patterns.

Humans, helped by software

Automation categorises; a named bookkeeper reviews, questions, and signs off. Every month.

Who you’ll work with

The person behind your numbers.

Small on purpose. You will know your bookkeeper by name — and she will know your business.

Anam runs Profitick single-handedly, working day to day in QuickBooks Online and Xero. She is currently pursuing the Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation with CPB Canada.

Bookkeeping stays in-house. Year-end tax returns are prepared by a licensed CPA that Profitick arranges, so the filing is handled by a credentialed professional and you still have one point of contact.
